biodiverse environments - the Mount Warning volcanic region. The diverse
landscape around the volcanic plug of Mount Warning gives rise to the local
subtropical, warm temperate & cool temperate rainforest types that are the

Plums.
The Marshall family have been farmers in the local area since the 1860's
with Samuel Marshall purchasing the original Rainforest Secrets property in
the 1940's. His son Noel then took over the farm in 1950. In 1984 Noel & his
wife Gwen, using entirely their own resources, began planting over 16,000
native rainforest and koala food trees on the 80 hectare (200 acre) beef &
banana farm. Today Noel & Gwen have retired but their family continues to
host visitors at Rainforest Secrets since June 2002. (The property was
previously known as Pioneer Plantation).
99% of the rainforest trees you'll see at Rainforest Secrets today have been
planted since 1984.
